Time to forget the football

Luckily I'm in banff so a calming walk in the mountains could well be
in order.
I think we officially have the slowest defence ever, no ...... I need
to let it go, time for a change of allegiance, HUP Holland HUP!

70 minutes gone 4-1

Come on England

That was a significant improvement from the England team, and one of the very few times I've heard the fans over the horns. More than happy with the win, more football that means something to me personally is a good thing. Of course this also means that the man from El Salvador owes me fifty bucks hahahahaha! I think I'll go
looking for him on Friday.

Now we just wait for the results from the Germany group to see who we're playing next.

Keeping Active & very, very nervous

So far I'm keeping things going, it's been a month since I've left work and I'm getting up every day with Jacqui, mainly for a good walk. I'm also cooking most nights
The reason for the walks and not the gymn are twofold, one is the World Cup, the games are on early here, and secondly I'm out most days in the garden doing productive stuff and occasionally things.

YES, FLIPPING YES England just scored against the might of Slovenia! Much better performance so far.

And that's the reason for the nervousness, damn you England for increasing my stress levels. Signing off after thirty minutes of the game and they've been playing
well so far, fingers crossed.

World Cup fever?

This football thing's good isn't it! So far I've watched at least part of most the games that have been played, and my general opinion .... meh. With some notable exceptions, Argentina crushing poor South Korea, Mexico beating France (woohoo) and Germany stomping the Aussies the games have not been the best.

I'm looking forward to the England games obviously and then the knockout rounds, it tends to liven up then. Watching them on my (still) lovely 58" plasma makes things a bit more bearable though.

mmm new recipe today

Got minced beef out fo the freezer today and needed a recipe so where do i turn, the BBC of course, they know everything. Lo and behold they even had something Norfolky top of the list, or thereabouts, Norfolk Mince with Dumplings, I shan't be doing the dumplings today but the rest looks good. I'll let you know what it tastes like, I must admit I've added oregano for some extra flavour. Wish everyone attending said meal all the best!

Oh I give in, you might as well know

I have been successful. I have achieved something incredible and I did it all by myself.*
Jacqui is once more pregnant! We have been a bit more circumspect this time round after the miscarriage/missing baby last year, therefore Jacqui is actually due on November 2nd. When I say 'we have been more circumspect' I mean 'I have been more circumspect'. I'm pretty sure Jacqui was on the phone to her parents as I was lighting my cigarette :)

We have had all manner of tests and stuff and as far as science can tell everything's going well. Jacqui tells me she is starting to show, of course I have not noticed this and never comment on the subject.

Thanks to more wonders of technology we know what sex the baby is as well, but according to Jacqui I'm not allowed to broadcast it in case some people don't want to know. If you'd like to know then drop me a note.

*(please note that i did not actually do it all myself, Jacqui may have helped a bit)

Les parents de Jacqueline ĂȘtes ici

So we have Braby side guests, although I am wondering if Jacqui's actually asked her parents to move in with us, as they are here for a month :) And it's good to see them again, we have not really seen them properly over the last three years, just in combinations with other people.

They arrived last Wednesday and they leave around the end of the world cup and they have quite a few things to do while they're her, and a worklist from Jacqui. We have trips to the mountains planned, they`re wandering off the Vancouver and a trip on the Rocky Mountaineer train is coming up as well. Lucky, lucky people, we did that on our honeymoon and loved it.

Typing this has made me reallise that we still need to post something about Jacqui`s sister visiting us a couple of weeks ago, things are just go go go here!

Man and Machine as One

Now I know this post may annoy the treehuggers, but sometimes a man has to do what a man has to do. Up until now we have had a rechargeable electric mower, fine for the first 3 summers but this year it's been going a bit wonky. Charge for 24 hrs and cut for 15 mins does not cut it, pun intended. I have also been getting annoyed with the lack of power in some situations. So after carefulish consideration I decided to get a petrol model. Looked around a bit and decided on this one : a chunky little beast of a machine, a bit like me.

And I'm very happy with the one mow I've completed so far, it goes through the grass soo quickly i get a fair sweat up cutting the grass, even better for my new healthier lifestyle.

Strange Formatting

Just an FYI, it seems that when I send an update to the blog via my
iPod it formats it in this strange way. Slightly annoying but not the
end of the world.

All this really means is that if you see the odd formatting then you
know I'm somewhere probably having more fun than you. Maybe I'm still
in bed or lounging about on the sofa, I feel better now cheers.

Ant Wars

This year we have gained three anthills and I have decided enough is
enough! So I have been franticly scouring the interweb to find ways
to get rid of them. We have black ants out here about a centimetre
long and I get a damn itchy bite when they attack me for no reason

My search found a couple of ways to remove them, these involved
boiling water, digging, acid mixes and cinnamon. I tried the boiling
water which seemed to help a bit. Then I tried standing there for a
hose for ten mins, this looks like it's giving results, it looks
like one hill is gone and I'm now working on the other two, partial
victory.

And so far I have suffered one bite, but it is a very annoying bite
and it will be with me for a week. That's why I smell like TCP most
of the time, and there's nothing sexier than the smell of TCP.

Tomorrow my war with the lawn mower, just like Denholm I find that I
like declaring war on things.

Mini update

Things are still going well. I am now getting into a routine with some
of the things that need to be done, I don't feel like a complete
dosser now and the exercise is happening.

Jacqui is a busy bunny with work and her parents are arriving tomorrow
so that's exciting! And of course the world cup is just around the
corner wooooo, just in case you missed it.
