Peoples in My House!

This week we are honoured to welcome Carolyn of Braby to our humble abode. The delightful young lady wandered over to see us last Friday and proceeded to scoff at jet lag and laugh at tiredness. Actually young Jacqui looks more tired!

Today J&C are out shopping and taking the tram around Edmonton, and then tonight they're off to watch what we call a 'Bird Film' which I shall NOT attend.
Tomorrow is another stat day (bank holiday) for us and we'll be out gallavanting around the countryside somewhere, probably Elk Island.

All is well with us, even my evil experimentation continues apace.

Bloody, yes i said bloody Canadians

Chronological order is something that happens in other blogs, I do not subscribe to such outdated principles.

Last week we got a letter from the Canadian immigration people, interesting I thought. Inside is a standard letter saying that Jacqui needed to have further tests completed and an ominous sealed envelope for our doctor. So I call Jacqui and our world pretty much comes crashing down as we both immediately fear the worst.

The next day Jacqui calls the doctor on spec and manages to get an appointment for that day. Either that or wait a week, and neither of us want that. Unfortunately I can't make it out to go with her then so she spends a happy couple of hours going home to get passport, getting more pictures taken and getting back to Edmonton.

Jacqui gets to the doctors and hands over the sealed envelope, and she gets told that it's just that someone in the Canadian health service lost/broke her x-ray pictures and she needed to get some more done. We both felt such a mixture of relief and anger at the senseless letter, luckily the relief won out! And now we just wait for the immigration people at the embassy in LA to make a decision on our application, they better decide soon we're running our of patience.

Back to the Old routine

First of all, we apologise, we are truly, truly sorry. We have been slack as a flipping slack thing and not updated our blog for ages.

Excuses? None really, we're just bad people, especially Jacqui.

So what made me update it today? Well I just had one of those heart in mouth feeling a bit sick experiences and I need to tell someone :)

Basically it was a classic 70's sitcom oh no I've lost my wedding ring sketches. To set the stage I'm sitting on the bus on the way home listening to my ipod and the world is a fairly happy place. I have a habit of rotating my wedding ring while I'm thinking so I start to do this.
Then I reallise that a vital part of this ring rotating scenario is missing! Cue heart stopping, sickness inducing feeling. Next of course I check the seat, my bag my clothes everywhere near. I call work to get them to check, I check everything listed above at least three more times...nothing. Now the chair I'm sitting on is completely screwed/rivetted down, but it does have handy gaps for rings and other valuable objects to fall into.

So I try and calm down and wait until we reach the bus station. We get there and I complete the march of shame to explain all this to Mr bus driver, and all the passengers avidly listening of course. He explains that there's nothing he can do and that it will have to wait until the bus gets back to the garage later today. I have to call the transit company, explain things yet again and leave my number.

I virtually run home from the bus stop thanks to adrenaline and try and call Jacqui to confess to my heinous act, she's busy. Next I take my books and stuff upstairs to our bedroom. Then the slow motion cameraman in my head takes over... ....hmmm.... ..what's that glinting on the floor next to the bed..............oh yes!......oh no.... It is of course my ring. So I write this having swallowed my pride and phoned all the relevant people to tell them the good news, and with a shiny ring back on my finger.
