Three months already? Surely not.

Yes, it is already three months since the little guy was left with us by the stork and how that time has flown by. From being an eating/sleeping/pooping machine, Dan is now an interactive little boy and is an absolute joy (most of the time).

In the last three months he has achieved the following:

1. 14 lbs in weight - my goodness that's a whole stone I'm having to carry around.

2. A gorgeous smile

3. His voice. He chats away to us in his own special language. Wish I had a clue what he's saying...or maybe it's better that I don't know.

4. Acid reflux. Lots of lovely cheesy spit up. Nice.

5. Sleeping alone. For the first three months he slept next to me as he just cried endlessly if we put him into his cot. However last night we achieved a whole 5 hours of him sleeping alone in his bassinet, so fingers crossed for tonight.

6. A strong neck. He can hold his head up no problem when I carry him over my shoulder.

7. An evil sense of humour. He straightens his legs out when I need him to bend them to put is baby grow on, and then laughs at me (although from this picture you'd think butter wouldn't melt)

8. A Canadian passport

9. Two smitten parents. Ahhhhh.

Elvis has left the building

We had Dan christened at my church (St Matthew's Anglican, St Albert) while Richard's parents were over just before Christmas. It was a lovely service. Sue cried all the way through. Daniel didn't. He slept through most of it, which luckily he is able to get away with at his age.

After the service the ladies of the church threw a baby shower for Sue, Dan and I and gave us some wonderful gifts including some stair gates and the car seat for when he is older. They also served the most wonderful carrot cake I've ever tasted. Many thanks to Marie for the cake and Jenny for organising the shower.

And the reference to Elvis? The only suitable outfit we could find for Dan which wasn't a formal christening gown was a white baby-grow. However the velour material and wide trouser legs made him look like Elvis.

Proof I have a real man

Real Men do DIY

I never thought the day would come, and you can be sure Jacqui didn't, but yesterday I installed a dishwasher. The work wasn't too hard as there was a dishwasher there before but it did involve new plumbing fittings and wiring things into the mains.

So all in all I succeeded and I was proud of my achievement. And it does not leak or shock people.
Hopefully Jacqui can add some pics to show you it's shiny goodness.

Three times the average snowfall in January, not impressed

Well the title says it all really, we have had snow the likes of which has not been seen since the sixties according to all and sundry. I will not attempt to back this up with references, where's the fun in that. Lots of snow does make for better pictures though. Enjoy our misery :)

Happy New Year

A bit belated, I know, but everything takes six times as long with a baby. It's been a cold one so far. It was 25 below today and we've had two foot of snow this week. Needless to say, we have been hibernating as much as possible.
