Early morning Dan

Not too impressed at being woke up

Dirty, dirty strawberry

Not quite a thousand words but it says enough.

P.S.

You may have noticed that I did not say how far I rowed, genuine mistake but I think I'll leave you to guess....

Devil and the Deep Blue Sea

Tonight Jacqui gave me a tough decision to make. Either put the monster to bed as previously agreed. (A daunting prospect at any time. )
Or
Go to the gym, as I had mentioned doing some days ago.

In other words she called my bluff. I did mean to start going to the gym again, but I think we both knew my inherent apathy would delay that for quite a while. But she made the offer and appreciating the sacrifice on her part I went. Below is a picture of my results. These were from a rowing machine.

Walking around gear.

Picked up the hat today. Next step is to get the bike ready and attach the trailer.

Beware streets and footpaths of St. Albert.

Proof if proof be need be

Either he's enjoying the table or he just can't get his train down. I'm going with enjoyment.

Have to stop buying stuff off Kijiji

Cheap and useful but the Internet feeds on people like me.

Dan likes it though, even if it's a bit big at the moment. Give it a month of so and we will be golden.

Zonked

He slept through my shower and getting ready. It may be time to wake the munchkin.

It's hard though when he's this peaceful.

You have not met your quota

I have checked twice and you are not on the list.

Clear that snow up !

Good work digger boy.

Winter not going down without a fight

Yes I know you UK monkeys are enjoying spring well here in Alberta things are different.

Another foot of snow last night, just as most of the winter snow had melted. They have now cleared most of the public roads here in St Albert just the residential closes and cul-de-sacs to go now.   We were planning to go to an Easter thing tomorrow, that can wait now I reckon. Plus Dan's virus has taken a vomity edge so yeah......

Spawn of the Beardedfool

He's a good lad even when ill. Been in bed until 10:15 but getting up soon.

Sick Children

We've been lucky so far in that Dan has been healthy for most of his time on Earth, barring the last couple of weeks and an early bout of chicken pox.

But when the lurgy does strike we are generally not prepared very well. Sniffles and colds are no issue but temperatures still worry us large amounts. I think it's the radical change in personality that trigger the concern glands.

Dan has has two virus's over the past few weeks and the first time it was truly worrying. Being first time parents we did okay, did not panic exactly but we did get our money's worth from the Canadian health service. On that point I have to say both Healthlink and our local doctors have been helpful and patient. On viruses, they suck. Anything that lasts a week and can't be treated is definitely a bad, bad word.

Well if you find yourself in this situation with a new child then my advice would be, do what you think is best. You are the best patent and judge of your child's moods and defender of their well-being. We are still new t this parenting lark and need reassurance and guidance as much as anyone. Don't be afraid of going to the doctor if you think it's necessary, be patient though, sometimes you need to wait for reassurance :)

The joy of kids.

Dan has another fever but seems a lot better in temperament than last time which makes it much easier to deal with.

No I did not eat the chocolate biscuit

And you can't prove otherwise. I think that was a conclusive Dan 1 Jaffa Cake 0.

Back in the cot with you!

Our first (proper) go at putting Dan in his cot went well and after two weeks we were all getting used to it. Then came the time of Virus which knocked him and therefore us for a six. He was completely out of sorts for a week and we were with him 24/7 which obviously meant out of the cot.

That lasted about 10 days including recovery. He stayed with Jacqui for the remainder of the second week and he was definitely sleeping better than before our little experiment.

But Jacqui had a taste of evening freedom and I agreed that getting him back in his cot would be best for everyone. So Saturday night we started again and this time he seems more angry than upset to me. Then again I am slightly tired so may be biased.

Another notable worry is that this time I seem to be the one
who gets him off to sleep on my shifts. Now this could be because I have been putting in the cot for his naps for the previous week, but even so I REALLY want to share this power.

I reckon that we will have this sorted again in a week or so but the journey there won't be too much fun. Anyway it's ten to eight and he's still asleep so I will enjoy this time and prepare for the awakening.
