Hurrah for Monsoon

Apart from surprising Sue, the main reason for my visit was to go shopping with Carolyn, Elisabeth and Elisabeth's friend Jo to find our bridesmaid dresses for Elisabeth's wedding in October. Elisabeth had decided that she didn't want custom made dresses - she'd rather we had something off the peg which we could wear again. So on Friday, Carolyn, Elisabeth and I headed to Oxford Street, and met Jo in Monsoon. We each picked a few dresses and tried them on. They were all lovely, and some of them worked for us, some of them didn't. However, none of them really had the 'wow' factor, although one green one was a 'distinctly possible'.

However, Jo then tried on one particular dress which Carolyn, Elisabeth and I had all overlooked and we agreed it looked fabulous. Carolyn and I tried it on too and the shop assistants brought us shoes and shrugs to match so we could get the proper effect. We all agreed that this was the one...probably. Typically, it was the most expensive one in the shop and Elisabeth wasn't 100% sure that she wanted that particular colour. Unfortunately, I can't tell you what particular colour that is or show you a photo of it as Elisabeth wants it to be a surprise on the day, but believe me, it had all the wow we needed. I shall therefore refer to it henceforth as THE dress.

We therefore spent the rest of the morning, after sustenance in John Lewis, trying on dresses in a few other shops, but only a couple came close to THE dress. We then had a fabulous lunch at a Turkish restaurant just off Oxford Street and then went back to Monsoon for the final decision between THE dress and the green dress. Unsurprisingly, THE dress won.
